Technology pushing the paperless office
Rapid developments in business technology and an increasingly mobile workforce mean that many businesses are moving toward having a paperless office.
Thanks to developments in technology such as smartphones and wi-fi it is now even easier for employees to work remotely from outside the office.
It seems that the trend is also being encouraged by the use of software such as Google Docs and Google Mail as these allow for a "collaborative environment" according to Richard Taylor, UK partner for consultancy firm, the Birchman Group.
"It doesn't matter where you are in the world, you can access the same content. So it's basically removing the need to have people printing off the paper and taking it around with them," he said.
Businesses that are looking to move to a more streamlined office set-up may want to look at commercial storage as a way of securing equipment the office no longer requires, such as printers and scanners.
PeoplePerHour.com reported this month a 68 percent increase in the number of UK businesses hiring remote workers in the last year.
