FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q. How many different sizes of storage rooms do you have?
A. We have approximately 50 different sizes, which means you only pay for the space you need keeping the cost down.

Q. How secure are your facilities?
A. Our facilities are very secure.

  1. Our Storage rooms are built with galvanised steel and you lock the rooms with your own padlock and keep the key - so even our staff cannot enter.
  2. During the day we have regular security patrols and during the night Group4 patrol.
  3. All our facilities have Red Care Alarm System to a Call Centre and Police.
  4. 24 hour video surveillance.
  5. Controlled access. Strangers cannot just wander about. All these measures and more are put in place so that whatever you store remains safe and sound so you can sleep easy at night. You don't have to worry when you store at Len Lothian U-Store.

Q. How often can I gain access to my Storage room?
A. You have unlimited free access during our extensive opening hours. This means you can gain access to your belongings any time at no cost. Just show your security pass and sign in.

Q. Am I tied into a long period of storage?
A. No. You can stay as long or as short as you need to. Len Lothian operates a 1-day minimum rental term. However we do ask if you can give us 7-days notice of your intention to move out. If this is not possible, all it means is you are effectively renting on a weekly basis instead of by the day.

Q. If I book a unit and I discover I have over estimated, can I get a smaller one?
A. Yes. We are very flexible to your needs. So if for example you are looking to sell your home, you can take a small unit initially taking excess belongings out of your home, leaving it less cluttered and easier to sell.
When you move the rest of your belongings into store we would suggest that you transfer from the smaller unit into a larger unit (one unit is cheaper than two equating to the same size).
Also when you move into your new home and are taking only some of your belongings out, we again would recommend that you transfer to a smaller unit to keep the cost down.

Q. How do I work out what size of unit I require?
A. Have a go at filling in our space calculator. Also our staff are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable and will be delighted to help and advise. Remember it is only a guideline.
When you move in, our Staff will be able to help work out accurately the size of unit you require from the amount of furniture you have.

Q. What can I not store?
A. You cannot store anything that is inflammable i.e. gas cylinders, fuel. You cannot store perishable food or anything stolen.

Q. What can we store?
A. Anything really. The storage is ideal for Private & Business use. We find the Private market uses us for three main areas:

  1. People moving home, who have sold their home, and are waiting to buy or move into their new home.
  2. People who have inherited furniture and want to keep, but their home is too small at the moment.
  3. "Closet Store". During summer people store winter clothes. During the winter they store summer clothes.
  4. Students who are away during the summer months store essential belongings until their next term.

The Commercial Business Market

We find a wide range of uses: Sales Representatives store merchandising goods and stock, most use our handling service. We take receipt of any goods being delivered for them. We check the goods in and transfer into their unit or into our quarantine area for collection. This saves the Representatives from wasting time waiting for deliveries. Companies use our storage facilities for storing archive, surplus furniture, point of sale goods, stock, all for long or short term depending on their needs.

Q. Do you have trolleys to help the move into store?
A. Yes, we have plenty of trolleys to help making the move into store as easy and as 'stress free' as possible.
