Who needs self storage?

There are a number of reasons to use Len’s Self Storage, whether for domestic or commercial use, our self storage facility offers flexible solutions for your storage needs.

Will I have 7 days a week access to my storage unit?

Yes, we are open 7 days a week with unlimited access during our opening hours (please note our commercial warehousing service is available Monday - Friday).

What can I use commercial storage for?

Typically we store all sorts of equipment, spares, archive, office furniture, retail goods and sales material.

What can I store?

You can store practically anything, from as little as a few archive boxes to the whole contents of your home or office. The service is flexible and accessible. This means you can vary the amount of space you take from week to week. You’ll find all our units are on the ground floor or serviced by lifts.

What is Self-Storage?

Self-Storage is a safe and convenient way for you to manage all your storage needs whether they are large or small, short or long term. You store your belongings in a secure storage room within our facility which can be accessed 7 days a week.

Protecting your goods in store - StoreProtect

To benefit from StoreProtect, you must declare an appropriate new replacement value for all goods stored (known as the Maximum Replacement Value). This figure must be adequate to include all goods at all times.

If you opt for StoreProtect, our standard terms limit our liability for your goods to a minimum of £100.

What is your Pick, Pack and Despatch Service?

Pick, Pack and Despatch is a service used by our commercial customers, were we would pick an item from their stock, pack these up and then despatch out to customers. Our storage warehouses have been designed to allow multi-stacking which maximises our use of floor space and our computerised stock control system provides accurate and instant data on stock levels and usage of the customers’ commercial goods.

Where is the Hillington reception located?

The postal code for our Hillington facility will take you to the front of the building at ‘Lothian House’, however, our reception can be found at the back of the building on Napier Road.

Do you provide office space?

Yes, we provide various sized office space at our Sighthill branch. Our office has onsite parking, equipped kitchen, toilet facilities and are accessible 24/7.

Do you have a facility where I could skip waste items?

No, unfortunately we do not create enough waste to offer a service such as this one, any items you bring to our self-storage area must be taken away upon vacating your unit.

Do you keep hold of the padlock keys for my storage unit?

Yes, this is a service we offer but does have a small fee. However, most of our customers keep their own padlock keys.

Do you have lifts at your sites?

Yes, we have lifts at our Granton, Sighthill and Kinning Park branches. Our Hillington branch does not require a lift as the facility is all on the ground floor.

How do I get my items to the unit?

Whether you’re using a removals company or moving your things into storage yourself, we have trolleys readily available to help you transport your goods to the unit.

How are your storage units secured?

Each unit is secured with your own padlock which can either be brought in or purchased within one of our facilities; this ensure that only you have access to your unit. We have internal and external CCTV cameras throughout the facilities and all our premises are alarmed to ensure your goods are safe. We are also patrolled by the security group G4S.

Are you open bank holidays?

Yes, we are open our normal working hours during bank holidays. There is only a change to our opening hours during the festive period. Find your nearest Len’s Self Storage location to see our Christmas opening hours.

Do you offer external container storage?

No, here at Lens we offer internal storage rooms within a steel galvanised warehouse.

Do you store vehicles?

We do not internally store vehicles but we do offer storage within our secure yards, subject to availability. Please call your nearest store to speak to one of our friendly team.

How often can I access the facility?

For access just show your security pass and come and go as you please. You can add more items or take things out as often as you like and it won’t cost you a penny. No other form of storage offers you this flexibility.

Who needs self storage?

What weight and size of pallet can I store on pallet racking?
  • Weight 700 – 1000 kgs
  • Dimension 1: 1.2m x 1m x 1.3m high
  • Dimension 2: 1.2m x 1m x 1.8m high
What information on my stock can I expect?

You can elect to have access, via our customer portal, to the information held on our warehouse management system. Here you will be able to request/access:

  • Stock Reports
  • Despatch Report
  • Goods In Report
  • Goods Out Report
  • Make Check In or Check Out Requests
How quick will my stock be picked and despatched?

Orders received before 9am will be picked, packed and despatched on the day. We also look to fulfil orders up to 12 o’clock, but this is dependent on business levels.

What types of deliveries can Len’s deal with?

On a daily basis we receive deliveries of packages, boxes and palletised goods from both vans and HGV. We also handle deliveries of stock via 20ft & 40ft containers (notice required).

What can't I use commercial storage for?

We do not offer facilities or the storage of dangerous goods such as fireworks, chemicals or fuel.

Is it cost-effective?

Compare the cost of office storage with our self-storage alternative and you’ll be delighted with the immediate cost savings. Remember that it’s not just the rental cost of the office space you save. Add heating, lighting, service charges and local authority rates, and you could find that the figure doubles. And with our tailor-made collection and retrieval services, self-storage at Len’s might fit the bill!

What do I have to do to move in?

Tell us your requirements and details and your storage can be organised the storage contract in advance, saving you time on the day. If you need help in unloading and storing, give us advance notice and we can arrange a portering service for you.

What is the minimum contract length?

Our contracts run for a minimum period of a calendar month, thereafter, unless 14 days’ notice has been given to terminate this agreement in advanced of the end of a monthly period to terminate the agreement.

How secure is the storage facility?

24 hours a day, 7 days a week high tech security for your peace of mind.

Whatever you need to store, your first priority is that it will be secure. At Len’s Self-Storage you lock up your material in a galvanised steel room. You keep the key, so you know your belongings are safe. Our sophisticated alarm and surveillance systems, monitored access and regular security patrols make sure that they stay that way. Safe and sound in clean, dry and well-lit premises.

What is the difference between Premium and Standard Units?

A Premium Unit is normally located on the ground floor, close to a main entrance door with minimal walking distance to your unit. If a Premium unit is on an upper floor level it will be located close to the lifts.

A Standard Unit is exactly the same as a Premium unit, but it is not as close to the main entrance doors and lifts, with a slightly further walk.

We have trollies at all of our stores to help you get your goods to your unit, regardless of its location in the building.
