When Scottish Rugby was stuck in a ruck, we created the space they needed to keep moving

Behind every Scottish Rugby fixture is a huge amount of preparation. The kit team manages a significant volume of clothing, equipment and match-related items, making sure everything is organised, secure and ready when needed.
Their work depends on having enough space to sort, check and prepare kit, as well as reliable access around training and fixture schedules.
For Scottish Rugby, the right storage solution was about much more than keeping equipment somewhere safe. They needed a reliable base where they could continue working and supporting the team.
The challenge
Finding a temporary base without slowing things down
Scottish Rugby was moving out of its existing kit store while its new warehouse was still being completed. With important fixtures ahead and a significant amount of equipment to relocate, the kit team needed a temporary solution that could support their day-to-day operations. A standard storage unit wasn’t enough. They needed somewhere that allowed them to work on site, organise equipment and prepare kit.

This meant the kit team could do much more than store equipment. They could work on site, spread kit out, check everything was prepared, load vehicles and access equipment whenever they needed to.
A large proportion of the kit was stored on racking in the main unit, while smaller lock-ups were used for bulkier items.
Everything was designed around the way the kit team worked, making it easier to prepare, organise and access equipment every day.
Support throughout the transition
Moving a large amount of equipment is not always straightforward, so we worked closely with the team to make the process as smooth as possible.
Before Scottish Rugby arrived, we prepared the space and made sure everything was ready. Our team supported the move with vehicles, staff and forklift access.
Once the team was settled in, we stayed in regular contact to make sure everything was working well and that they had everything they needed.
Whether it was helping with heavier equipment, arranging emergency access or providing additional space when required, we were always on hand to support them.

Easier access for people, equipment and vehicles
One of the biggest benefits of the new setup was how much easier it made moving equipment.
The kit team could bring vans directly to the storage area, making loading and unloading much simpler than their previous warehouse, where equipment had to be carried up two flights of stairs.
Secure fob access, CCTV and alarm systems also gave the team confidence that their equipment was safe and secure.
Although the location initially seemed further away from the stadium, it quickly became an advantage, making access to training facilities and transport routes easier.
The results
A smooth transition with no disruption
The move to Len’s allowed Scottish Rugby to continue its work without disruption.
During the six months the kit team worked from our site, they experienced no issues and were able to continue preparing for matches as planned.
The team also valued the support they received from everyone at Len’s, with our staff always willing to help and provide practical assistance whenever needed.
